Norfolk, Virginia is home to the world's largest naval base. With a history rich in maritime culture, modern day Norfolk has become a center of cultural arts, music, and food. Beach Coastline

Norfolk is surrounded by water and sandy beaches spanning from the Ocean View area of the city and extending to the downtown area. For visitors who enjoy a more quiet beach experience, Ocean View has miles of beach for visitors and residents to enjoy without a lot of tourist attractions. On the downtown side, the bustling Town Point Park area spans along the shore of the Chesapeake Bay with plenty of shopping, museums, and other attractions along the way. This makes Norfolk an ocean lover's dream, whether you're visiting for a day of swimming and sunbathing or going for a walk along the city streets.

Hidden Gems

Norfolk is home to the Chrysler Museum, a recently renovated art museum that houses one of the largest exhibits of Tiffany glass in the world. It's also the home of Nauticus, an impressive Naval museum that sits next to the USS Wisconsin. There is also an impressive botanical garden in Norfolk with acres of local and native plants as well as exotic species from all over the world. Norfolk is also home to the Virginia Zoo which boasts animals from Asia, Africa, Eruope, and the United States. Aside from these major attractions, Norfolk also has plenty of interesting smaller gems like the Hermitage Museum and the MacArthur Memorial.

 A Sports Town

Even though Norfolk does not have any nationally recognized sports teams, it's home to Harbor Park, an impressive modern baseball stadium. This stadium is home base for the Norfolk Tides, a farm team for professional baseball players. The Norfolk Scope features is an impressive arena with a large ice rink where hockey games take place throughout the year. There's also plenty to do in Norfolk if you're a sports lover including several golf courses, nature trails, and kayaking adventures. The city has several different public parks where visitors can enjoy walking, playing on the playground, and spending time outdoors including Lakewood Park, Northside Park, and Ocean View Beach Park.
