Microfiber Cloth

You may feel your office is always clean and organized, but dirt and debris will accumulate on your leather chair. Over time, this debris can discolor darker leather.

To remove this surface debris, run a clean microfiber cloth across the leather every few days. Go with the grain of your leather to remove all specks of dust and dirt.

Saddle Soap

Dusting your chair every few days is great for preventing heavy buildup. However, constant use of your office chair may cause dirt and debris to stick to the leather, creating a heavier residue.

Saddle soap is an effective leather cleaner that you can use on shoes, accessories, horse saddles, and leather furniture. To create your own saddle soap, combine the following ingredients into a pot on your stove:

• 4 cups of water
• 1 cup of grated soap
• ½ cup of grated beeswax
• ¼ cup neatsfoot oil

All ingredients are readily available at your local health food or craft store.

After combining the ingredients, bring to a boil. Once it reaches a rapid boil, remove from the heat and set aside to cool to room temperature. Pour into a container and cover with a lid.

To use, apply a small amount of saddle soap to a moist chamois pad or microfiber cloth. Use circular motions to rub the soap into the leather. Allow to rest for a few minutes before wiping the excess away using a clean cloth.

Saddle soap removes stubborn patches of residue while enhancing the supple finish of the leather.

Rubbing Alcohol

If you eat or drink in your office, you most likely have spilled food and drink on your chair. Soaking the liquid up by blotting with a dry cloth is smart for preventing heavy stains. However, the spills may cause spots to develop on your leather.

To remove these simple spots, apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol to a cotton swab. Blot the spot and allow to dry.

An attractive office chair should be a focal point of your office, so ensuring it is clean is key. Using these tips to clean your leather chair, it will be an appealing investment for many years.
